The Cancer New Moon June 21st is a Solar Eclipse. Eclipses are a big deal in Astrology, they’re powerful energy portals giving the fated feeling of fast-tracking events into the future. It’s the way the Universe puts us on path. Eclipses usually come in pairs a couple times a year. This go-around we even get a bonus third Eclipse- this is the second of the three. A Solar Eclipse is like a New Moon times ten with events setting the stage and effects reaching throughout the year ahead.
This Solar Eclipse New Moon is in the earliest degree of Cancer, nipping at the heels of the Summer Solstice, —the longest day, holding the greatest amount of light. A potent Eclipse falling in a powerful degree, has much potential and possibility for fresh starts with family, feelings and all things familiar and domestic. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolizing feeling nurtured, cared for and protected, safe and secure as it represents the Mother and the womb. Your emotions will be up close and personal, and you’ll want to be with those that you feel right at home with.
The North Node connects with this Solar Eclipse; while in separate signs, they’re intricately linked to the future. The Nodal axis is associated with Karma and Destiny - the past and the future and has recently finished touring Cancer and Capricorn for the past year and a half and moved to Gemini and Sagittarius. This Eclipse serves as a Gateway, a commencement on lessons learned about your feelings, your gut instincts or initial emotional reactions, your feelings of belonging, early conditioning, patterning, dependency, family ties, your roots and your memories of the past.
For the next several months, the Nodes will center on your perceptions and assumptions; questioning beliefs and other world views, listening, learning facts, getting at the Truth and coming to understanding.
Just days before the New Moon Solar Eclipse, Mercury does an about face, also in Cancer, bringing emotions and memories up to the surface. You’re in the mood to talk about and think about past times and how a person or situation made you feel. Your recollections may leave you looking at things in a new light. Mercury will retrograde until July 12th.
Mars in Pisces nudges this New Moon; it’s possible to feel ultra-sensitive and triggered, yet you can’t quite put your finger on why. It’s a mood – a vague feeling. On the other hand, you may feel tuned into your psychic sensitivities and empathy, perhaps even tuning into the energies of the collective which are really worked up these days. Being in or around water is beneficial now. It’s possible that you have visionary pursuits that inspire you to create a home escape, perhaps involving a water feature of some sort.
Stickler Saturn in Aquarius has a strong influence on this Eclipse, there may be changes with scheduling, duties or responsibilities that alters your lifestyle, habits or practices in some manner. Of course, there are new rules and restrictions, protocols and new norms that keep changing, altering the way you once did things. There could be new technology or new management in business matters.
On another level, this influence enables you to examine the past, your feelings and memories, while expressing care and concern with a certain amount of detachment and maturity. You’ve experienced situations and circumstances and now can choose to respond differently than you have in the past.
Mars in Pisces connects with Jupiter and Pluto, both retrograde in Capricorn suggesting that there are moves behind the scenes and on subconscious levels that have the potential to inspire internal growth and development, and a major overhaul and restoration on an inner level to transform your belief systems and to eliminate blocks and resistance. This is an ongoing process that takes time.
While several planets are currently retrograde, you can expect delays and do-overs. The Universe grants the opportunity for review, reassessment and to take another look at things and get it right.
Blessings and Good Vibes to All at this New Moon Solar Eclipse!
